Mohamed Ramadan
was born on May 23, 1988, in Qena Governorate, and his family later migrated to Giza Governorate. While in preparatory school, he succeeded in joining the football school of Zamalek Club, but he left football when he enrolled in Al-Saeedia Secondary School. He started acting in the school theater, catching the attention of critic Ahmed Abdel-Hamid. After quitting football, he entered the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts, marking the beginning of his artistic career.
Mohamed Ramadan played minor roles in several TV series before shining in a significant role in the film "Ehky Ya Shahrazad." He became one of the top stars in the acting scene, especially after starring in successful films such as "Al-Almani," "Abdo Mota," "Qalb Al-Asad," and "Shad Agzak."
He has been compared to the late actor Ahmed Zaki, but Ramadan expressed his respect for Zaki, stating that time will reveal whether he is imitating him or has a unique talent. He faced criticism for apparent similarities at times, but some considered him and Amr Saad as the best at imitating Ahmed Zaki.
He has been accused by artists and media figures of presenting "low-quality" works to achieve success. Critics argue that he contributes to the prevalence of violent concepts among the youth. Writer Mohamed Fouda believes that although Ramadan has become a kind of "artistic phenomenon," he repeats himself by focusing on presenting roles related to thugs, deviation, and violence, which might not befit a talented artist. Ramadan has faced criticism for concentrating on roles portraying violence and delinquency. Some accused him of reflecting these characters in real life due to repeatedly playing the role of a thug. Comedian Bousi Fouad criticized him, stating that while he is an excellent artist with high acting abilities, he should abandon roles that promote hostility and resentment toward society.
The television host Lamees El-Hadidi also criticized Ramadan's films, especially the movie "Abdo Mota," considering it a spark planting a culture of violence in children "to an extent that has become noteworthy." In response, Ramadan argued on Facebook, stating that "Abdo Mota" is a film addressing a phenomenon existing in our society, and he questioned her understanding since she lives in Dubai. He added that "cinema is a trade, just as the media has become a trade."
